In need of food?
Nourishing Gardens Food Bank is an emergency food bank in Sumpter Township. Nourishing Gardens is located on Sumpter Road, between Wear and Willow Roads.
We provide food boxes for families in need and provide enough food for one week. Those families in need of help can call for more information or bring the following information with them during our hours of operation.
What to Bring:
- Proof of income (last 2 paycheck stubs, social security or disability info, or your 2006 or 2007 W-2 form) If you are not currently working we will need the proof of income of whom ever is taking care of your bills or rent.
- Identity of all people living in the house. For example, Michigan State ID, Birth Certificate of children or school ID. We will no longer be excepting social security cards as identification.
- Two utility bills or mail coming to your home in your name, or your spouse’s name.
Based on the information you bring with you on your first visit will determine if you can receive food weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly. While here, a client can expect a kind and caring atmosphere. Whether this is your first time receiving assistance or not, all are treated with dignity and respect.
Clients take home up to 30 pounds of food per family. Many types of food are available ranging from canned vegetables and fruit to fresh fruit, veggies, meat, snacks and beverages. Personal care items such as shampoo and toothpaste are also available.
